I use this functional opener for cold stops in the mall.

The store is actually not in the mall which allows me to tease them a little bit and say that the would "suck as my tour guide."

I can also transition off of it easily and tell them I am buying a birthday present for someone which opens up new channels for conversation.

The opener stops them, gets their attention, and comes in under their radar but the conversation can run out quickly if I do not get off of it quickly.

Thoughts?
