I have used this and it has worked time and time again.

When with a wing, find the actor that he closest resembles.

One of my wings closely resembles James Dean.
When I have identified a target, I walk up to her, smile, look at my wing and say

"He always gets mad when I do this, but don't you think he closely resembles James Dean?"

If they disagree, that is the perfect opportunity to hit them with a neg.

Girl: "I...i don't really see it"

Turn to her friend and say "When I first walked in here, I pegged her for someone who lacked culture"

The vast majority of the time (if you have picked the right actor) they will agree and then shortly afterward ask what the real names of you and your wing are. You have your first IOI.

In my experience, anytime you categorize a target or try and put them in the proverbial 'unoriginal' box, it acts as an easy neg. You can make it as outrageous as you want and even tell them that no one enjoys being categorized. It could be as arbitrary as "you look like someone who would wear a pair of shoes like that". Get them to categorize you. It's a fun little game and will certainly aid in the progression of your conversation.

Give it a shot and good luck.

Cheers,
