hey guys, i wanted to see what you all thought of a new opener i've tried out a few times so far.

i'll approach a loner or set and tell them that me and my friends were interested in seeing if we could determine anyone's nationalities by their last name and looks alone. i don't know if i'm retarded or this could just take some practice but out of the few i've done so far i haven't been right once haha. none the less i got an older lady once, who was out on a date at the moment, giving me hugs and kisses while trying to set me up with her surprisingly hot daughter over my phone. its seems to be a pretty nice topic to transition with even though i've just given the wrong answers. the loner or set will just want to talk about a part of their background that they have a significant attachment to.

any way, let me know what you think. if you got any tips that could help me actually get one right let me know as well. all i got for sure now is names anding in "ski" are polish, and i'm ashamed to say i drew a blank on that one too trying it on a polish girl.

I field tested your opener - I used it to open a whole family with a hot daughter at an airport in spain... It worked wonders.

Good post.

One thing to be careful is not using this opener on someone whose nationality is totally obvious. I was out with an attractive female friend of mine last weekend, and she happpens to be irish. Right in front of me, 10-15 guys each tried to open our set by commenting on her irish accent, asking if she liked to drink guiness, etc... She humored them and gave each one the same smile and 30 second answer to the AFC "where in ireland are you from" follow up question. It was pretty pathetic to watch, and I get the impression that whenever she goes out this same thing happens all night.

Same goes for french, australian, canadian, etc... If it's obvious, you have to ignore it and focus on something else. A PUA is the exception to the trend/rule, meaning you're not going to impress/stand out when you're doing what every other guy in the bar is doing.

However, on a seperate occasion, I successfully guessed the nationality of a malasian/indonesian girl. She clearly saw this as a DHV, since most people in the US are unable to differentiate between many asian nationalities simply by appearance and accent.

i agree mech, i don't think you should really use this approach to state the obvious. what i think is the harder part of it is that in this country you can meet people with no accents that can hold several different nationalities. along with that they could have such diverse backgrounds that they can seem like something else entirely. for example, my ex is irish and syrian, if it wasn't for her irish last name by looks along you would have guest she was mediterranean. i don't know, its just something i want to work on more.
