I just wanted to say that I have tried about of openers and I have found one that works 70% of the time a least for me.

Girls go out and put on certain things that make them look good or that are cute.

They do this for a reason because they want to look cute for us.

So I have shifted my openers to telling them that I like something that they are waring. This works because 1. most guys don't say stuff like that and it flatters them.
2. they are looking for men just as much as we are looking for them and it is a in and you showed that you have interest in the style that they have.

Example I told one girl that I liked her hate simple yet it worked well. I had a 8 hour date with her the next day. But I did fuck it up by acting to needy the next day. This is because I just got out of a 4 year thing haha. learned from that mistake quick.

I did the hat thing again 2 nights later but this time I walked up and started to read this button on her hat when she asked what I was doing I said what does you button say. This made her happy because no man in the bar did this. They left the bar with us that night.

Tonight I did something different I saw a guy and a girl that were together and they were waring the same shirt. This couple had a friend with them that was very cute. So I opened with why are you guys waring the same shirt. They said that some one gave them to them on the weekend or something. But the girl that was the target was the one that responded. She did it because she had interest in me in the first place and I gave her a in to talk to me. I got her number and have a date planned.

The other thing that I do is use a huge smile to get girls because people tend to love to talk to smiling people. I just started using this all the time. Makes it 10 times easier. I know that you all probably know that but it works better than any pick up lines. Smile all day at everyone. If you shoot someone a smile and they look away and do it back they like you and now you have to be a man and talk to them right away.

Your post makes a lot of sense, but I would try to steer clear of just flat compliments like, "nice hat". Girls *DO* hear this often, but don't worry you can still save this opener by turning it into a simple neg. Say, "nice hat, I think I saw somebody else wearing the same one". I like it though, and the same shirt opener was pretty nice! I might try this one some time.

The hat opener is something that I use when I sense body langage that they have interest. This opener might not work if you are bad looking I am not sure. That neg sounds good tho.

I agree with the last two posts, this kind of opener , shows too much interest, it can work ,but by saying this stuff you become more needy.

The button reading and identical shirt openers were both good but you don't want to make complimenting clothing your staple. As many have pointed out it comes off as pretty bland and needy.

But along those lines, one that I just thought up and haven't had time to implement yet is to approach a girl and say:

"I really like MY shoes." She'll probably say "what/excuse me" and you go "I was going to say you have nice shoes but then I realized mine are better, don't you think?" And show them off to her. Of course do it playfully and if you wear sneakers like I do to most places its a pretty nice neg considering she'll probably be in heels and it's unique so she won't be expecting it.

I can see it working if it is directed towards the right girl and the timing is right as well. It does come off that you might be showing too much interest.
