My friend James from school is going out with this girl right now and everything between them seems to be nice, but every time we all hang out and James is away, she hits on me. I'm kind of friends with him and her, and girls usually have a certain intuition about these kinds of things... So what do you think I should do? (they answer blah blah) The thing is, I'm friends with James and Adrienne.. I know her cuz she works with my buddy at Kruese and Muer. I've told her we're just friends, but she doesn't get it but I think if I tell James she's hitting on me, he won't believe it and will just think I'm trying to take his girlfriend.


1. is this too complicated of an opener?
2. If it is, do you guys have any ideas on how I could shorten it, or improve it in any way, because this is actually a true story

Here are some thoughts/observations:

-You said 'i'm friends with both of them' twice.
-it seems like you're looking for her to solve your problems for you, rather than just getting her opinion on a situation. I'd say once she gives an answer, try reacting more to what she says and get more of her general opinions/experiences on related subjects. ie: ask her "have you ever wanted one of your friends boyfriends? Do you think it's wrong to date a friends ex? " etc.
-the only reason why you should bring up how you know her is if it increases your DHV. So, if you wanted to, you could say something like "I met her at a shoot she was doing for a photographer friend of mine." She'll think "he's getting attention from a model, and turning her away?" DHV! I'd play with the wording a bit more, though, to make it more natural. Remember, it's not lying: it's flirting. (INLIF)
