I can't believe I kept forgetting this: The False Time Constraint!
A couple of weeks ago I was in a mixed 3set. The obstacles were eating out of my hand, but my target was aloof, breezy and in her own world. She paid no attention. I didn't engage and intrigue her. The reason? I didn't give a false time constraint (FTC). Without it, she was thinking "who is this guy, why is he here, and when will he leave?" I blew the set. I busted on her for not paying attention to stories that her friends loved, negged her on her earrings, but I paid her a compliment as well to offset overnegging. When she said "I'm just here to drink, and..." she didn't get much firther than that because I got up and left. I like to think it would have gone differently with the FTC. Maybe she was just an idiot...maybe I creeped her out. It has come to light that I really don't care what she thought, and now I find the situation amusing. The point of this post: Don't forget the effing FTC!

I hear you man, I did the same thing the last time I was out. I opened a two set, threw in a few negs and manged to keep thier interest, so I felt like I was doing good. I waas so excited about it that I TOTALLY forgot the FTC. I just stood there like a goof talking to them for WAY too long.

It was a nice converation actually, but it was a total waste of time because by that point I must have looked needy, so I failed to number close.
