I quickly though of another one for the cafeteria. Something like this:

I scout a bit around for food I want to eat and walk up next to some HBs,
Fabie: Hmmm, that looks good! (Make sure to get her attention)
Fabie: I mean not you, but the food.
Her: (Gives me a look) Blah blah
Fabie: Ok ok you look good also, but you need a little salt and pepper to spice you up (cocky funny smile), actually I like you whats your name?
Her: I am blah
Fabie: Awesome, I am Fabie, hey, I am quickly gonna grab some food, but where are you sitting? I'd like to get to know you better.
Her: Dunno,
Fabie: Alright no worries, I'll find you, I mean if that is like (exagerate) totally cool with you, I mean like, I wouldn't want to be all creepy and stuff like that because that just isn't cool.
Her: Haha sure,
Fabie: Cheers (I give a thumbs up, for friendliness, to finish the small talk)

Now you can go sit at their talbe once you find them, or if it was't to comfortable just move on...

It seems okay, but it may be lacking something. I don't know about the thumbs up either. Seems a little to HS maybe? I dunno. I like the salt and pepper thing. I think it would work but you would definitely have to have the right amount of sarcasm otherwise they will know that you are trying to pick them up.

I like it up to the totaly cool and uncool part but thats just cause of my personality. it could definatly work. so how bout u just try it and see if it works instead of asking? then come back and post the reactions. I really like the salt and pepper bit so just try it

it has potential mate, but it came off a lil annoying to me and a bit needy

i personally think you should pick be carefull when to use 'i like you' or ' i want to get to know you more'

pretty much in this scenario you havnt qualified her enough to say i like you without her passing judgment that ur just saying it because of her looks. and she might actually think your a lil creepy. despite you bringing it up

especially when your asking to to find her.... mate. let her find YOU.
you give her the opition to chase you, cos in this set i think your doing too much chassing

Agreed possibly you should mention where you are going to sit, not that you'll find her.

I don't really feel too crazy about it...

I kind of feel like its clingy and like you're looking for someone to eat with because you have no other options.

I mean try it out and give us the feedback but I think you should be like "Where are you sitting? I might come by later."

Idk thats just me.

I'm real new but I think the one thing your lacking is a short enough time constraint and like somebody else mentioned the needyness factor.

Options
Good opener, but instead of inviting yourself to eat with her right away wait and see where she sits and if she sits alone remove yourself from your friends tray and all and join her. Make it knowen that you have left your friends to sit with her and your doing her a favor and add in the false time constraint that you can only eat and run.

Say something like friends dont let friends eat alone, mind if I join you. I can only stay for a while then I have class or etc.
