Hey guys,

There have been a couple times when I was talking to a girl and when I go for the number-close she tells me she has a boyfriend. When this happens I usually still manage to get the number, but I feel like I am annoying at that point. I'm not the type that would do anything with these girls if they have a boyfriend, I just don't like giving up once I'm in the situation. What do some of you do in this situation?

If she says she has a boyfriend then she is throwing an indication that she is not into you either because your not her cup of tea or she actually has a boyfriend. I tend to skip over girls with BF's. Waste of time in my opinion especially when you could be gaming a girl without one.

A girl telling you that she has a boyfriend is her easiest way to avoid conflict with you. She is testing your frame or she has realized that there is a possibility that she might end up sleeping with you. No offense to you... but you are a guy she just met. LOGICALLY, she wouldn't sleep with a guy she just met. That is why you gotta slap her emotions around a little bit and take her down a peg...

Depending on the context, any of these will work great as "Boyfriend Destroyers"

"Wow! We just met and you are already telling me about your fucking problems?!"
"Oh that's cool. Me too. Except my boyfriend doesn't get jealous when I go out and talk to people."
"Oh you must have thought I was hitting on you! I was only being polite."
"What's his name?" (if she has to take a second to think about it... Boyfriend isn't real.)
"You look like the type of girl who would have atleast 2 boyfriends."

Those are some of my favorites. As with anything... Your tonality and delivery mean everything but the key is to not get upset because of the fact that she said she has a boyfriend.

I agree it becomes a waste of time but I guess what my question really is is how to make the exit afterward. I feel like it just becomes awkward.

"I have a boyfriend."
"Oh. Ok."
*Awkward silence*
*Slowly walk away*

I guess it's that fear of that awkwardness that makes me keep talking to her as if I still intend to get her number. Any exit strategies for these situations or is it just best to straight up walk away without another word?

Those are awesome responses and I'm definitely gonna write those down for future use. They made me laugh which means a girl with a good sense of humor will laugh at them too, and that's always good. I could see these working very well if the girl is still having a good time talking to you. But what about when you have already made it clear that you are interested and you can tell the girl is being serious and really doesn't wanna talk anymore. Best to just walk away right on the spot or still come up with a funny response?

It doesn't hurt to try being funny but don't go out there thinking that your witty humor is going to get her to sleep with you when she has a BF.

I wouldn't anyway. Not if she has a bf. Thanks for the advice.

Agree with this completely.. It'll be congruent with the fun and playful persona you should be giving off.. It'll show her that the boyfriend is a non-issue and a couple of things could then happen:

1. The interaction carries on and you successfully close finding out later (after you've banged her/gone out with her) that she doesn't actually have a boyfriend and was just bitch-shielding you..
2. The interaction carries on successfully and you find out later that she DOES definitely have a boyfriend (don't EVER bring him up yourself, let her do it) and depending on how happy she is in her relationship, how much fun she's having with you etc. you could still end up with a close..
3. She laughs at your boyfriend joke, you keep chatting her up and then she brings up the boyfriend AGAIN (in an awkward, back off kind of way).. Just pretend you like to meet new ppl and that you're not chatting her up, then say you need to go back to your mates and that it was lovely meeting her..

Solid advice. Thanks, man, I appreciate it.

"How long have you had that problem?"

Self-amusement is the name of the game, so have fun with it and move on. Sometimes I'll even screw up my face and say "What? Why would you do that? Ewww, that's disgusting. What's wrong with you?" because I find it funny and usually pumps my state.

That's a good point. Thanks!

Whether she does or does not have a boyfriend is entirely irrelevant. What is relevant is that she is choosing the easy way out of your interaction, frame testing you. Most guys will call it quit after hearing it, the ones that do not and still continue being confident, light-hearted and fun will get a chance to close.
Well when I asked this I had a certain situation that happened recently in mind. She said she had a boyfriend during the interaction but I didn't give up and still ended up getting her number. Now as I said before, I am not the type of guy to actually do anything with a girl that has a boyfriend, but I don't see any harm in just talking to her and becoming friends (besides, girls know other girls so why not expand my network). We were texting and she admitted to me that if things go south with her boyfriend that she will let me know right away. However, the next time we texted she said she didn't want to text anymore because she feels uncomfortable (which I completely understand and I haven't contacted her since). So I feel like in this situation I should have just walked away, but instead I persisted because I was feeling alpha at the time and knew I could get the number. In hindsight I feel kinda like a douche and that I should have just walked away.

Such unnecessary candidness would make me uncomfortable too. I would LJBF her to settle things down, but keep the interaction flirty.

I note that this hindsight came on only after she rejected you, not after you got her number. You shouldn't let a girl's reaction affect your opinions that much.

True. Good point.
