If it works, then it's great. But you are openly admitting that both you and he are there to pick up women, albeit indirectly. If you say "He always gets the girls I talk to." then that's like saying "He and I always come here to pick up women." What will the girl be thinking about that, I dunno. You're also telegraphing the fact that he will eventually hit on this girl, which will make her resistant to being picked up by him. It's also basically like telling her that some random guy is going to be trying to pick her up later, then he does. What are the odds of that? This would be an obvious set up for any girl who is even remotely intelligent, but admittidly there aren't that many of them out there.
