I'm headed out tomorrow night and want to give this line a shot. Tell me what you think?

ME: Hey, I was going to come on to you with some cheezy pickup line, but I figured you've heard them all. I'm (john doe) how are you?

The problem is that by calling out that you could be using some cheesy pickup line, it actually comes across as a cheesy pickup line. Because let's face it, that's been done before.

If you're feeling spunky maybe just walk up to the set and say "Insert cheesy pickup line here." then don't say anything and just smile. Some sets will laugh and engage you, and others will give you negative vibes. But I think that would work a little better.
