Ok so there is this girl who is a bar waitress at a local watering hole. I found out tonight she has a daughter turning one soon. She opened me awhile back saying we went to school together. At the time I blew it off for whatever reason. Anyway whenever I see her I always smile and she smiles shyly right back looking down and to the right. Tonight I decided as I'm leaving to go for it. I walked right up as she was waiting for drink orders and told her, "Hey I would like to buy you a steak dinner." She laughed in disbelief and started to turn away, so I follow with 'I'm serious' while chuckling 'you look like you'd be a fun time.' She smiled and said, "I have a boyfriend." I just smiled some more and said, "thats cool." She held out her hand and said,"friends?" To which I replied, "sure why not." At the time I couldn't think of a quick enough reply to push past. Hindsight now. Regardless I want to go for it again, but I'm not sure how to do it after this? I feel I need to be more aggressive on a slower night next time, but is that the right move?

What do you want to buy her dinner for? What did she do to deserve it? We buy things as a reward for compliance.

It was meant more as an attention getter than anything else but I do see your point. She's pretty and has a nice smile. Thats about it so by me offering her dinner right off the bat I've given her value without her earning it. So essentially if I approach her again the repor has been set that I 'like her' and can accept her rejection. Inadvertenty this is not acceptable because I am the prize and she should work for my attention. So I guess my question at this point is how to reverse that set standard with hired guns so to speak?
