Ok went sarging on saturday and managed to open quite a few sets successfully with a few number closes. The disaster of the nite came when opened a 7 set. I think it may have been a case of too many too soon. How do you maintain the intrest of a group this size? or do you try and break the group into two miny sets?

Was the 7 set all women or a mixture? In a set that large you will have to ignore the HB you want. If you were standing and they were all sitting that left you out big time. Go with an opener that will appeal highly to everyone. If the entire set was fem, you should try a chick crack. Maybe start with celebrity gossip, threading to palm reading, ask which ones are single. A set that large almost sounds like a bacholorette party or major girls night out. Encourage one HB to participate with your palm reading, magic etc... by having her stand up. Swing around, take her seat, now you've made it into their group. Look, smile back and say "I took your chair, my lap is currently available though" Keep in mind, to mention you've got to get back to your friends shortly. If you've made it this far you will have to hit numerous negs to keep this group on their toes. To get results in a group that size you can have no fear. You will have to kino and isolate the HB you want.

cheers man good advice, yeh it was all fem and i was standing and behind a barrier lol could it get any worse. i managed to get the attention of two of them neither my target and they just didnt seem interested so ejected. did see a few of them later on but not my target, better luck next time i spose

I fumbled a big set last weekend and later thought of this opener -

Me: "Hey cool, whose the bachelorette?" [wait for response or laugh] "Wait, this has got to be a bachelorette party so who wants to do the first body shot off me - Come 'On! That's what you do on bachelorette party scavenger hunt, right? You get some kind of points and shit for it, right?"

At this point I figure someone'll will say they've done that or I could ask if anyone's done it - if someone has I could go with "body shot off a stranger eh? Okay, I'll stay away from you then" or "Okay, cool, we've got some adventurous girls here."

If no girl fesses up then follow with "Ohhhh..so you're all NICE girls then right?...umm yeah...I'm finding that hard to believe based on your faces." or "...umm yeah...you're all a bunch of bullshitters."

Well, thought it might be a decent opener - haven't tested it yet though. Any opinions? Feel free to be brutal.

there is potential there i think some of the lines are gold dust but i would include them in the convo and actually open with something else and include some of the lines that you are using

Depends on how spread apart they are. If they are stretched out and one half of the group is in their own conversation then you split the group. You have to make a judgment on whether the other half can hear you. If they are all in a circle and you are the center of attention then go for the entire set. Remember that the only attention the "target" gets early on are "negs." Then when you hit A3, you start bringing her into the conversation.
