A good one for coffee shops, libraries, cafe's or anywhere thats quieter. Take a book on magic in with you, sit down near the target, read it for a bit, then say "Wow! Hey let me try this trick with you?"

They always let me (i've used it twice, the first time it was made up on the spot) and it allows you to carry props like cards, you're practising. The second time it worked better because i decided to intentionally screw it up and i think that made it more endearing and was more of a talking point.
