I'm trying to come up with a short, versatile opener that can be used in night and day game. Give me your thoughts on this one:

"Hey. Cookies or brownies?"

That's it. Haven't field tested it, but here's what I like about it:

1. Short. Easy to remember. Works well in loud and quiet environments.
2. Good for single girls or sets.
3. Who would ever reject you based on this opener? She'd have to be a total bitch. In which case, good riddance.
4. Friendly, non-sexual, non-threatening. Doesn't sound like a pickup line.
5. Girls generally like baking/cooking, and I love talking about that stuff.
6. Easy to follow up and start a deep conversation.
7. A good qualifier for me, cause I like girls who can cook/bake or at least like talking about it. Shows me that they're fun.
8. Easy opportunities for light negging without being obnoxious.
9. Allows me to brag a bit about stuff I've tried to bake -- shows girls I care about girl stuff.
10. Sounds random and spontaneous, although you really have a good excuse to ask it.

Here's how it might play out:

PUA: "Hey. Cookies or brownies?"
Girl: "What?"
PUA: "I'm in charge for buying desserts for a party. Which do girls prefer? Cookies or brownies?
Girl: "Cookies"
PUA: "No way, brownies are awesome. Have you ever even tried them?
Girl: giggles... "Of course."
PUA: "So what kind of cookies stand up to brownies?"
Girl: tells you about her favorite cookies.
PUA: "Yeah, those do sound good. You'll have to bake me a batch sometime. You do bake, right?"
Girl: "Yes" or "No"
PUA: if no, "You don't bake? What kind of girl are you?" if yes, "I love a girl that bakes. What else do you bake besides cookies?" "You like to cook too?"
Girl: blah blah blah

If she prefers brownies, you can argue for cookies instead, and tell her about some amazing type of cookie she must try. Then follow up with whether she bakes/cooks. If the girl doesn't bake or cook, it's easy to playfully neg her on it by saying things like, "Then what are you good at?"

And if the girl asks you why you're asking for her opinion in the first place, you just say, "I'm in charge of buying desserts for a party, and I'm curious what girls prefer."

Other ways this can evolve:

1. Chocolate: Most girls love chocolate and it's really easy to steer the conversation this way in the context of cookies and/or brownies.

2. Who's good at what: If you're talking to a set, after getting everyone's opinion on cookie vs brownie, ask them who's the best baker/cook in the group. Then ask who's the troublemaker, who's the nerd, who's the richest, etc. Then ask how they all know each other. Everyone feels involved, and you can then pick out your target by saying, "Oh, you're the nerd? We'd never get along." or "Oh, you're the troublemaker? We'd never get along." etc.

This thing is so versatile. Gonna test is next weekend.

this sounds pretty good to me. It's a harmless enough question that any person should have an opinion on.
