"Hey I got to go in a sec but just out of curiosity do you think it's alright for a guy to wear cover up?" Then I tell them why I'm asking and introduce myself. The thing is I don't know what to say after I introduce myself so I just say thanks for the help and walk away. Any advice on how to overcome this?

Don't worry so much about openers, the important thing is not what you say is how you say it. Remember that.
Just try to have a conversation with her, most guys struggle with this. Just ask her questions but DO NOT make an interview, you are not a journalist, take your time to answer the questions - remember that nobody is paying you for answering quickly-
