I thought of this opener while browsing through the forum, and some users saying that they have trouble keeping eye contact with the opposite sex.


Well, anyways, you basically approach a female and tell her "Hey, I am having trouble keeping eye-contact with girls, do you mind if we have a staring contest, so you can help me fight this anxiety off"



And if she says, yes, and you guys starting into each others eyes face to face. You can either go with two different routes at this moment, for example you can NEG her and mention something about the amount of makeup or foundation she is wearing, or you can say something nice about her eyes. Hell, you can even make funny faces to make her laugh while doing this.

Of course you don't have to have any eye contact anxiety to use this, it's for anyone.

I'm a total newbie here so please don't take offense. But the problem I see with that is your opener to a girl is basically admitting a inadequacy, YOU DA MAN renemeber!

Two issues here :

1. You're admitting that you have a problem and you're hence, starting on the weaker foot already, even before you know the first thing about her.

And,

2. She doesn't owe you anything, and no one's got the time to indulge in a "staring contest" these days. So, 95% of the time, you'll be getting different versions of the same answer i.e. "No".

The point is he opened. Opening is opening. Eye contact is good for building rapport + conveys confidence. Turning into a game is building rapport. Making her laugh or neg her or wtv is breaking rapport. In 30 seconds you did that I think its okay.

True, it's better than not opening at all, maybe give a different excuse to wanting to do it then?

Youre looking at a girl, and shes looking too but isnt talking. You go up to her and say: Wow, what is this, a staring contest? You know you cant beat me. I can see peoples soul. And damn, yours is hot .
