I feel I don't really yet know how to get a chick to quickly like me and play along.

What is it that chicks respond to most? Looks? Opener? A joke? Vibe?

As I get better and better, sometimes it feels like square one where I cant even hook dorky chicks!

A decent opener is just supposed to get you started. There are many routines and strategies to get a chick to like you, but it all depends on your frame. If your frame is strong and you believe you are having fun, she will find it fun too. If you find it awkward, so will she. Just don't try to become her dancing monkey though. Physically escalate, tease her a little bit while mixing in some rapport.

The opener is just an excuse. Are you talking about hook point in general ?

In clubs, I noticed that to reach the hook point, you need:
- be funny, if you make them laugh you won !
- to have a lot of energy, smile, having a blast

Chicks don't go out to meet people tired or boring, so if you're really enjoying the party and are funny they'll be willing to spend time and be seen with you. A single girl will like you quickly if her friends appreciate you. Last week in NPU, I joked a girl and danced with her and when her friends came along, they were already "opened"
