When you asked her about her opinion about the video that came very sudden. Maybe you could have led up to it a little more.
And then just make up some reason why it's important to you, maybe because you and your friends talked about it or something like that. I would have said: "My friends and me just saw this video. I had to think of you when I saw it, cause you come across as such an impulsive person. You must have seen this video ... ", "Are you anything like that?" ("Because if so I'm not sure if it's safe for me to meet up with you")

If it were me i would just ask her "Do you remember me?" and if she yes then you can be like yea its been a long time and go from there. If she says no then explain who you are to jog her memory (i wouldnt stay on this topic to long). I would also use some playful negs if she says no. "Maybe its not you, the girl i remember was pretty nice" and so on with bull shit like that. Also i wouldnt carry the first conversation to long if its over the internet. Make her think you are a busy mothafuka and got to go hang out with your homies.

But thats what i would do. Do whatever you think will work and if it doesnt....Fuck it, try again.

I totally agree with Sheps - fb chat is instant - she could be on the phone, she could be having an argument, she could just not feel like talking and suddenly you're popping up, with no time constraint and she's probably thinking "oh god, he's gonna want to talk all night and all i want to do is my online shoe shopping".

"oh my god, just got my phone bill - that call you made to Papa New Guinea was soooo expensive, knew I shouldn't have trusted you, you were just so convincing when you said you needed to call your friend. Have you managed to get your phone sorted now? Anyway, there's a load of us going out next week to X-club, you girls should pop along if you're about"

That way, you have asked a question but NOT a question related to seeing her. If she replies it's an IOI but doesn't set you up for rejection, and it also allows her to talk when she's in the mood, not on FB chat, so there is a time constraint. You can also reply when you're ready and when you've thought of something smart to say

guy literally explained the example i gave (lol at his name being example) not using fb chat is a good option.
HOWEVER some girls find it creepy if you inbox them it can seem too personal so if she says ''why are you messaging me" you say
" i thought it was on your wall i'm not that great with blackberry's fb app... technology fail lol" or similar. just to cover your bases.
