I was walking home today and this middle aged Japanese woman gave me a big, flirty smile, but as soon as I approached her, she got all nervous?
This happens to me a lot and I really never understood why. She might just be a friendly person, but she didn't need to put so much effort in turning to make eye contact and smile that way if she knew she would react in a nervous freakout...
Are you sure the smile was genuine? Women are experts at faking smiles. I mean fucking amazing at it.
On the flip side, assuming it was genuine, what's wrong with a girl being nervous? I mean it can mean she is attracted to you and she cannot cope with it completely. If that happens with me, I reassure her and make her comfortable...hold her hand, touch her shoulder, smile back (essential for shy/nervous girls, let her know you're not a threat by any means and a good dude), positive eye contact.

Yes, it was a genuine smile. I have seen enough fake smiles to know the difference. I agree that most smiles are fake though.
She wasn't normally nervous though. She was practically running from me, saying she "didn't have time"and I didn't do or say anything creepy lol.
Maybe there was initial attraction, but she changed her mind suddenly. Women do that every moment of every day.
