it depends on how these two interact with each other. I said to a girl friend(not GF) of mine that she was in my dream last night and her response was "ooh, that's kinky" obviously she was playing along. It could backfire for some guys.
I usually use this one:
"I helped a blind man cross the street today. What good deed have you done?"
something like that, if you want the "awww" response, it works quite well.
