I need some advice on this because it's hard for me to approach strangers, so I want to use canned openers as training wheels until I build enough confidence. Anyway because of my lack of experience infield I would love to have someone's opinion on how to create your own opener, thanks.

Situational openers are good for on the fly conversations. Mostly they are just 'Thinking out loud' type of questions/observations.
Don't worry about being super funny/look at me guy. You want to train conversation before you train seduction. Opening is the hardest part and it's a complete numbers game. So be that guy who just talks to anyone and build your ability to chat out loud.
