SlickRick is 100% on the point imho, your friend clearly has deep issues with himself. i too would not consider him such a good friend if this repeats, however you don't have to disconnect from him if you still like his company, just avoid the situations where he manifests his weak behaviors (i.e. - don't go with him to pick up women).

i had a few 'friends' like that in my life. i've usually been more bold at approaching than most of my friends, and i've encountered several 'friends' that were waiting for me to open a set only so they could barge in and try to take everything to themselves. with some of them i even talked about it but it didn't help.

so, i never went with them to any parties or places that it was clear that i would be meeting women a lot.

eventually the whole 'friendship' died but it doesn't have to be the case. just know the limitations of the people you hang with and adjust accordingly. you'll have to do it with any person you hang out with throughout your life, actually, regardless of pick up.
