I haven't field tested this but here we go

You walk up to a girl

"This may seem a bit forward, but I'm really trying to work on my shyness and you look like a friendly face.. I just wanted to say hi".

this probably sounds very AFC I haven't tried.. and don't plan to.. I just heard it from a David D. interview somewhere..

what do you think

I think it might be something to start off with if you have problems with approach anxiety. If you've heard of "newbie challenges" they sound similar to this. Just go up and even just say hi. I did this and it was effective in starting conversations even though it is not meant to be the most effective way to open sets usually. It will help though I imagine.

i would very that depending on local. if your at a party, or an area where its possible you may not know anyone, say that you're new to the area and dont know anyone, things like that. carefull tho, if you dont play it perfect with these you may end up in the friend zone, which is escapable, but it takes balls.

seems like most HBs might talk to you out of pity . . . pity talk usually not so good.

no no no admitting that you are a shy makes its awkward. But if your target seen you talk to many girls. this is a good opener

PUAIT: I was really apprehensive to come and talk to you but i couldn't resist. I just came to say hi.

If she(they) likes you she might say hi back, or she is just being polite. Either way its always good. Never be mad when you get rejected its all part of the game. if she really likes you she would say

HB7: What are you talking about ive seen you talk to plenty girls in here

you obviously already shown high value so just take it from there.

Sorry, bro.
That approach is VERY AFC.

Try something else.

Ex:

PUA: I like that skirt.
HB: Thanks...(Wierded out; just got complimented by an AFC)
PUA: Yeah, I just saw a girl with the same thing on a few mins
ago.
HB: Really?
PUA: Yeah, she was just outside. Speaking of which, did you
hear what happened out there a few minutes ago?
HB: What?
PUA: (Make up a story for what happened outside, I recomend humour).

Yeah, that's a popular opener, I know, but it's great on HB8s and up.
