need help/opinion in college

So, theres this girl in class that sits next to me. I havn't really talked to her(HB7), but she asked me a few questions from time to time. The problem is, no one in class really talks, we just pay attention to the teacher, which is fucking boring. I sat next to her when the whole class went to the computer lab and maintained some EC, but that was pretty much all. In class, we don't talk, and only have minimum EC.

When I want to open, I get fucking AA, cause theres hella people next to me.
Are there any good openers? or can I offer gum? If I offer gum, should I give some to the people next to me?

Any help is appreciated.
