I've been talking off and on with her over the past few weeks. She friended me first and I gave her a playful "do I know you" ect. to start things off. She just said at the end of her last message "I'm up to chatting/talking sometime" so that's a major IOI

She was listed as in a relationship a few weeks ago when she friended me but I just saw that might have changed which is why I didn't make any moves on her and kept it friendly.

My main question though is, should I give her my number (since she brought it up) or should I just ask for her number? Which do you think would be best? I figure if I ask for her number and that if she gives it to me I'm in control after that but vice versa if I give her my number?

I'm wondering if ever, is there a time when a guy should give a girl his number instead of the other way around? When does that work?

Well that's a massive IOI so it will work if you give her you're number. ask for hers at the same time. She's given you the opportunity so take it. most AFC's would just say 'Me too'

If you ask for hers you will get it as long as there is some comfort already built.
So say, 'Well this is odd, my phone wants to talk to you're phone'

She'll say either its funny, or cute and give her #'s

worst case (unlikely) ' God no you can't have my number you freak' - respond with - It was a test you failed, phones can't talk you weirdo!

'I don't give my number to strangers' respond with Thats what I said, I'll just tell my phone you're phone is shy.' - they usually respond with their number in the next email anyway, some kind of shit test I guess.

Her: i bet its difficult to make friends when you move so much. :/ at least now theres facebook so its easier to keep in touch. so do you know how to speak Japanese? and i bet the beaches in hawaii are beautiful. the beaches around here that ive been to aren't too special...although ive only been to a couple. lol one of my best friends is from palestine and she said when she goes to the gulf of aqaba, its like going to a whole new world. shes showed me pictures before and i couldnt agree with her more.
so what do you like to do for fun? and im always up for talking/texting.


Me: Yeah I really miss Hawaii, I hope to go back there in the next year or two for a visit. Moving got tougher as I got into middle and high school but meeting friends was easier than you think the only thing that was hard was starting over every 2 or 3 years. I still keep in touch with some to this day thanks to facebook

That was like after 5 prior messages, we had great rapport going since she started asking about my overseas experience. I sent that Thursday night, it's now Monday and haven't heard back :/ ....She's gone a few days before replying a few weeks ago in the past, but I would have thought she'd be more instant if she really wanted to move to the phone.

I usually text a girl first (before she knows my number) saying something like "hey do you know my name?, if you get it right you get a surprise " or just "hey guess who this is"or something like that.
