Is it best to build things up etc over a couple of days before asking to meet or even asking for the number? Or is it best to just go ahead and do it or will it depend on the girl?

I will go ahead and assume you mean online since you posted in this section. i think that's why you're not getting replies - i don't know if you mean in general, or online.

To me, online is a game of momentum-building. momentum online correlates somewhat to attraction/comfort in real life. therefore, my approach is building up over days. But not 2 weeks. yes, depends on the girl - you will have to attenuate to your individual case. but I went out w/a young girl from online a few years ago. she unwittingly schooled me in online game - saying how 'refreshing' it was when i asked her out after the 2nd email vs. guys doing back and forth shit for 1-2 weeks. gotta pay attention to your age groups, too, of course.
