Everyday I encounter junior pick-up-artists whom have read every book on seduction ever written. They can rattle off the lingo fluently and intellectually understand all of the fundamentals of a successful pick-up. Out of all of these men I have met, I have one common sticking point; And that is that they would rather eat broken glass than approach a woman. No matter how many times they listen to "Eye of the Tiger", repeat affirmations, and pump iron, the thought of actually walking across a room and saying "hello" is a fate worse than death. What the hell is stopping them from moving their feet and vocalizing? The hell stopped ALL of us when we first started out? The answer is simple. THE PAIN OF REJECTION is worse than the PLEASURE OF APPROACHING. Ultimately far too many beginner PUA's come to this conclusion and can't overcome it. Fortunately I have come across a solution to this issue in the most unlikely of places.

We've all been encouraged to adopt heroes whom we are meant to model ourselves after. We are told to watch Brad Pitt in Ocean's Eleven, Johnny Depp in Don Juan DeMarco and all of the usual suspects. The problem with only using these Hollywood studs as models, is that they NEVER FAIL! Thus what these paralyzed sargers go into the field thinking is that, IF I AM A GOOD PUA, I WILL NEVER FAIL. When you inevitably rejected, you then have the ammunition to berate yourself and the motivation to stop trying. I am going to propose a radical idea that really helped me with my fear of rejection. Are you ready? ADOPT REJECTION HEROES!

Millions of viewers all across the country tune their televisions to Scrubs, Family Guy and King of the Hill every night. All three shows boast a sex crazed, woman obsessed, hysterical pick-up machine among their beloved casts of characters. The Todd on Scrubs never EVER misses and opportunity to hit on anything that moves. He blurts out sexual innuendo fearlessly regardless of what results he gets. Of course I'm not advocating behaving like The Todd in terms of how to attract women, but I am absolutely advocating behaving like the Todd when he gets rejected. Every time the Todd gets rejected he gets a huge grin on his face and continues on completely emotionally unaffected. Occasionally he bursts into laughter when a woman tells to "go away" in less than savory terms. Next time a woman rejects you, try getting a huge green on your face and then start laughing! Plan to do this ahead of time, and see what this does to your feeling before you approach.

Boomhauer on King of the Hill is seen as a ladies man, but a ladies man who is oft shut down. In one episode, he reveals his primary tactic of picking up women is going to women's shoe stores when they are having sales, and volume approaching ALL of the women there. In this same episode he gets rejected horribly and has the best response ever. A woman slaps him in the face turning his to head in the direction of Hank and Peggy who were in search of him. He responds instantly by calling out in a cheerful voice "Hey! Hank and Peggy!" What he was able to do was completely stoicly ignore the most extreme shut down a cheerfully greet his friends. Next time you are approach, try planning something positive to do immediately in case of rejecting. Next time a woman says "go away", turn around and yell to your friends "Lets do some shots!" This might just help you deflect the negativity and welcome back the positive emotions that made you want to approach.

Of course there is Quagmire from Family Guy. America's most beloved cartoon sex pervert has been slapped, arrested and everything else under the sun. Have you ever seen Quagmire without his signature grin? Try responding to a failed sarge by yelling "All right!" in your best Quagmire voice, and sporting that big stupid grin!

Follow the example of this motley crew of characters and find fun and enjoyable ways to enjoy and find humor is the inevitable rejection. Embrace it! Part of what will set you apart from other men, is your ability to get SHOT DOWN! Basketball players miss jump shots, poker players lose hands, and boxers get punched in the face. Learn to love all of the aspects of pick-up, including the hilarity of a quality rejection!

I really like this post! I figure there will always be some rejections, and love animation references. More visual and easier to understand for me. Also never thought I'd hear Quagmire having admirable traits, and you did so quite well convincingly.

Couldn't these rejections be used as DHV's?

This is a brilliant way of looking at it. It is like celebrating your rejection. So at least you know that if you get rejected there is something to look forward to!

As another PUA forum poster reminded me: PU is meant to be fun! So make sure you make it fun!

Nice post OctavianusPUA!

Awesome post.

Im sure it will solve a lot of newbies doubts.

Often I find a lot of post that deserve the same group of answers;

Be positive, its not a big deal, and most importantly: have fun.

You can know the theorics of sarging, but to become a PUA...you have to enjoy it, and to practice it.

If you cant enjoy to aproach some ramdoim girl.....you cant do it well.

I use to really suck at math...I almost not graduated of high school because of them.

Now Im studying a major in economics, math all over. While im writing this post, I have a math book and like 200 problems to solve.

Why? because Ive learned to enjoy math....now Im doing great at school.

To become a PUA is to enjoy what you like an dont like about the Game, not just the fun part.

I love it! Great idea. I also had a pick up hero, Daniel Craig as James Bond actually. But a rejection hero sounds like a great idea. After all, rejection is part of the game, I should learn to adapt to the inevitable shoot down. After all, it's not the end of the world....easier said than done. It will take practice, and due to my newbie PUA status, I will get plenty. "Aaalllright..."

I think what doesnt kill you makes you stronger right?
So approach, but every time that you do, do so with an attitude...(correct me if im wrong but the attitude you adopt is inner game??)
an attitude wherby you believe that you are the prize.

So then every time you fall down that safety mechanism will hold good, making you bigger balls every time.

I personally enjoy a little bit of rejection simply because it makes me realize I messed up so I analyze what I did and find the flaws. Plus I have no wing so I rely on rejection to help me learn and move forward.

I think it is a good idea. Perhaps you can make it even more fun by making rejection more worthwile. For instance have friends buy you a drink after a rejection and vice versa when they get turned down. Then either way you win. Getting rejected is a free drink, having a succesfull pickup is getting the girl. :D

Brilliant post... just gave you all my remaining rep points (not much) for it. I've had serious problems with AA in the past (as has pretty much everyone) and I've found this approach worked far better than any NLP, hypnosis or other techniques I've come across. Thanks for posting :D

Great post! I think that these things could seriously help some newer pua's if they utilize them.

Just expect to be rejected. Don't think about it too much. If she does not like you or is not interested, then just move on to the next one, Keep improving your game and learn from your mistakes.

I would also suggest that you keep learning all that you can and just don't be afraid to go out and fuck things up.
