So, today I met this self-proclaimed pick-up artist. I found this guy in town and sought him out so that I could up my social skills. Not like I'm trying to bang 100 chicks, just want to be comfortable with the approach. Dude immediately gave me 4 books to read while we sat and watched PUA vids. Then, he attempted to get me to "summarize my strengths and weakness" on the spot. He taught me about some of the basic PUA stuff. But I found it odd, that there was no real conversation. You know what I'm talking about. There was no rapport established as a person to person type thing. This is the guy who is to teach me how to be a pick up artist. Not to mention, he pushed his products face to face. or other products. Whatever. I don't know what I'm saying, but there was no conversation. It was all read this, look up this guy. It was obvious that this guy had trouble connecting on an authentic level. Even though he could regurgitate every book he'd ever read on PUA.
What do you all think?
Am I over thinking this stuff?

Oops, you've posted this is the wrong section. Here are two suggestions of better categories:
Commercial Section / Reviews
Get Into The Game / General Questions
As far as your experience goes, you're talking more about sale techniques than PUA, but the two are closely related. He could've been having a bad day (we all have our off days in field). He could be a close off person and only open up after he knows someone. This happens when someone has gotten burned too many times in the sale process. He could just be not taking you seriously. Experience sales people will conserve effort by delivering less personalized pitches to someone who looks less likely to buy.
