Washington DC weekend (advice on which hotel to book)

I wasn't exactly sure if this is posted in the relevant thread. At the end of May I'm presenting some work in Baltimore and to Dave some money on cheaper flights the university are asking me to stay an extra few days in the states but for that I have to book a hotel. I've never been to Washington before, could someone please recommend an area that will be near bars and clubs so I could do some sarging without too much travel? I was told my budget for a hotel is in the region of £100 ($160) per night.

I'd definitely look into the Georgetown area. Lots of charming restaurants and bars. Not sure if the hotel budget is adequate though.
