Its a different skill- and not necessarily done well by the best PU's- Its like tiger woods training a beginner golfer to swing whose never picked up a club! (impatient?)
A guy at work has a PASSION about TEACHING up and coming national level swimmers and works at the local university.
Hes 50 years old and has never been a national level swimmer himself- what he has done is dedicated his skills in conveying the techniques that make others into top class swimmers. He has years of training in coaching but not being a top class swimmer.
He also states that academic types are easier to coach as they just pick up the information a lot quicker and easier.
What I'm saying is that although I'm not thick lol - that learning from example- eg watching u-tube's of some real pickups and going trough them in real life is a squillion times easier for me than thinking and creating my own material and then trialing that (which I usually just fuck up and sound weird), which if you are a gifted degree level info muncher and regurgitator is good for you (like most moderators- no offence) but not me!
Thought this might help some guys out getting feelings of being inadequate - you got to learn how to just strike up a normal fun conversation before you can even think about using techniques- unless of course you've got one on one tuition from someone 100 times better than you in the field with you who can pick out things that your doing blatantly wrong and can suggest relevant info then and there.
