The Presmile

What it is

I've been testing something during day game and having very good results, so I want to share the technique with you here. It's what I call the "presmile." The presmile is that barest whiff of a smile -- an almost imperceptible hint that there's a curl at the edge of your lips. It's nowhere close to a full-on smile, but the mouth has definitely made a slight move out of the realm of its relaxed state.

Practice it in the mirror. Begin with your mouth in a state of repose, and then slowly start the process of turning your mouth into a smile. But as soon as you see the subtlest curl at the edge of your lips, stop, and hold that position. That's the presmile.

When and how it works

I generally use it when walking down the street, because the presmile lends itself to a physical dynamic in which you and the woman are crossing paths. And I use it primarily during day game, because the presmile relies heavily on good visibility. I've found the presmile to have a high rate of success. When it works, the woman will look at you and smile. And, pretty often, her smile will even be a seductive one. You then have a clear opening -- an invitation, really -- to stop and talk to her.

Why I think it works

It gets the woman to give you a strong IOI. Think of the presmile as a cousin of the eye squint. It causes the woman to commit herself, and it'll put her a little off balance, because, just as she's smiling, her mind is also probably firing with questions of whether or not you're smiling at her at all! And so she wonders whether she is the one flirting with you. Part of its power, I suspect, lies in some of the same psychology that makes Gambler's kino microescalation so effective; the presmile is something so subtle that it's like a secret, highly charged exchange between the woman and you. The fact that it's done in broad daylight and in front of dozens of other people -- but that it's so discreet that no one else will likely notice it -- makes it all the more exciting.

Now go try it out! I think you'll find it to be another weapon in your arsenal. Again, the presmile works best during day game (or in well-lit places during night game), because visibility of such a subtle gesture is essential to its effectiveness. Come back and share your results!

i use those too.

the reason they work is that people do it all the time subconsciously and we pick up on other people's micro-expressions subconsciously too.

i've noticed if you give the slightest hint of a smile, after a second or two, the girl will flash you a full on smile!

I now have the missing piece in my puzzle. Anyways, I was talking to this girl the other day (not knowing I was doing it right) and she said I wasn't cool enough for her. So I've decided to devote all of my spare time into reading on how to be cool so eventually I'll have read so much I will be the coolest guy, and if a girl says that to me again I can say "you're wrong and [insert cool line here]", and she'll have no choice but to go out with me. Am I doing it right?
