Do the first couple of weeks of a semester pretty much set an irreversible tone for the rest? Like you go in thinking "alright, all work, no play, I'll thank myself when I get a decent job", since you're not working and you don't have rich parents or a full scholarship, but mid-semester you get a decent sized gift, inheritance, or aid dispersal, and you decide "alright, I can breathe again". Will the same girls you've had zero interaction with look at you like you just ran over their cat if you decide to say hi three or four months in?
