I am currently reading a book called Healing your emotional self by beverly engel and I have to say its a life changer. Its dramatically impacted my self-esteem and the way I see myself. Its definiteley a great book for anyone just starting in the game and for anyone whos been in the game who suffers from anxiety disorders, low self esteem, low confidence, and depression. If you do the exercises this book will change your life.

Also some other books that the author reccommended were by some author that goes by the name of Laurel Mellin. I havent read these books yet but since the author of the previous book mentioned her name I had to check them out on Amazon. I have never seen more Life changing reviews on any book I have ever seen on Amazon. After im done with the current book im reading and another few I still have waiting I am definiteley going to check her books out. Their called Wired For Joy! And the Pathway.

I have struggled with self-esteem and confidence issues for about 2 years now. But now its a different story. I truly thought I was hopeless but then I discovered the community and I discovered these books. My life will never be the same. Please, please, please check these books out from Laurel Mellin. I really want to see what all of this hype is about. Id read it but I already have like 3 pretty big books waiting and I dont want to put them off because thats a bad habit I tend to have. If you do check them out please post a review because it will be very beneficial to alot of people.

Thanks!

Haven't checked out those books, BUT, I'd say one only needs to read 2 motivational books:

"Awaken the Giant Within" by Anthony Robbins

and

"The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle.

They are complete opposites, but they both are AWESOME.

Remember, confidence grows by doing. Robbins is about the doing-- Tolle is about being happy with what you're doing.

That book rules. I didn't mention it just because I don't know if it quite goes under motivation and improvement of self-esteem.

These are all great books. I read The Power Of Now and A new Earth. I havnt read though Awaken The Giant Within by Tony Robbins. For some it might take 2 books to read and develop a strong frame. For others such as me, it takes more than that.

I got Carnegies How to win friends and influence people on my to do list. I got the book I just have to finish reading my other books before I can start that one. Im really excited about starting that one. Everyone says its life changing.

Reading books isn't going to change anything, guys. Especially your inner game. I understand your all pumped and motivated from these books claims. . . use that feeling to go out and start doing things. If instead you choose to act on this motivation by reading more, your going to be disappointed down the road.

A spiritual understanding that is not practiced under fire is without value; only by applying our knowledge in trying situations do we come into genuine possession of it.

I dont knwo what your talking about hobbit but reading books has changed my internals more than anything. Yes, of course though you also gain confidence from going infield. For me its been the other way around. Read some books and my game gets better. Dont read books go out more and my game still gets better. Its a win/win. You get better either way. I mean why the fuck do people make books then on inner game? Theres no use for them so why bother?

For some they get their confidence going infield only. For others its the other way around. Including me. I have so much shit that I need to handle before going infield on a consistent basis. Going infield is not going to solve all your inner game problems. Definiteley not mine. If your somebody with self-esteem and abandonment issues then that affects your game so much that you dont even realize it. You think its normal to feel like shit because you have been feeling like that your whole life. Well its not. Because everyone doesnt feel like shit.

I mean still whats the whole point of reading books? All the best guys with women have even said that they read a shitload of books on psychology and game to improve thereselves with women. Look at David D. After every seminar he posts a big list of books he has read to improve himself. Why do you think he puts them up there and lets everybody know? Because it helps. Carlos Xuma another great example. His Ultimate Inner Game is compiled of all the best stuff he used to get his inner game straight. Look at John Alexander. Hes read a shitload of books on psychology and women.

Reading books will help you. So will going infield. But if your a guy with inner game issues then id suggest start reading books on inner game. Then when you feel like your ready to go out and handle rejection a consistent basis then go out and sarge. Reading books will get you in the right mindset and will help you develop self-esteem and confidence.

Hobbit, I remember you even saying that you have never read books on inner game or seduction. Then how do you know they dont work or dont help? I can understand if you go out and get results you feel alot better about yourself but thats not the way for every guy. Some feel so unworthy of success and some feel like they dont deserve it.

Heres my take on books. If you have low self esteem then start reading books. If you have good self esteem then go out and sarge. If your not sure then test both out. Books do help tremendously as they have helped me. Maybe you just havent found the right books yet or just dont like to read. Hobbit, I believe that you dont need to read books because your internals are straight in place. For others its a differnet story.

dont look at reading and doing as two seperate things. read a little every day and practice a little everyday. seduce everyone, men, women, cashiers, hobos, police officers. every person you talk to, seduce them, not sexually but charismatically, apply what you're reading. I read a little everyday from very different points of view, i experiment, apply, fail, and move on. grow and change a little with every little encounter. always increase your knowledge, it is your tool, then use that tool to its full potential.

In times of change, learners inherit the Earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.

the value of books are their ability to introduce new ideas into ones thinking. Helpful because most people lack the ability to self-generate their own. We have limiting beliefs.

I tried listening to the audio book of the power of now once but only managed an hour of it cos it just seemed totally weird to me. Made no sense at all. But western philosophies never appealed to me. I learnt to be happy what I'm doing with taoist philosophy. Read the "tao of pooh" & "The Book of Chuang Tzu"

The trouble is now though, what I'm doing might be nothing in particular wasting time and I'll still be happy about it :-S

Even stranger to me, I once tried reading the art of happiness by the dalai lama and had to stop because it was making me unhappy....!
