Hey guys,

This year for my Resolution, I've gone for something fun and exciting: I'm going to try something new every month.

I'm hoping this'll do a few things:

- make me enjoy myself a lot more
- make me meet lots of new people
- make me a much more exciting person
- give me lots of stories to DHV with and just generally give me Higher Value

The rule is - I have to try something new for a month and at the end of the month can decide whether to continue with it or not.

Here's my list of ideas so far:

- Yoga + Meditation.
- Learn to Play the Guitar.
- Learn to Cook (Other life skills maybe as well - Sewing, Washing - Uni Prep y'know).
- Learn some Magic/Illusion Tricks.
- Learn to Draw.
- Take up a new Martial Art (Kick-boxing).
- Try Rock-Climbing.
- Learn how to Ice Skate.
- Take an NLP Class + Learn the Basics.
- Learn how to Break-dance.
- Learn how to give Massages.
- Host Poker Nights for Mates (and learn more Advanced Poker Tactics in the Process).
- Learn how to Sing.

Most of them should be fun, interesting, give me a new edge.

What do you guys think to the idea ? And also, thinking of getting my GF involved (although doubt she will), will definitely keep things exciting and fresh there.

Do you have any more ideas I could add/replace the current ones with ?

Cheers guys, all the best for the New Year.

Prophet.

Well Hobbit, firstly the idea was to pick stuff that was probably realistic to learn and do.

Secondly, I have no real intention of becoming 'excellent' at any of them, just to try them, meet new people, have a bit of fun then move on to the next one, keeping the ones that I feel really passionate about.

I'm a really busy person as it is so this'll be hard to do anyway, that's why I'm limiting it to one per month - in that month I'll probably only be able to do each thing once a week, depending on the activity of course.

Going to work on being more specific with each one - like define exactly what I want to do for each one (aka - how much Guitar playing do I want to learn, what do I want to be able to cook, etc ...).

You mentioned going to a university. Definitely get involved with some clubs there. I'm sure you can find a club that will overlap with some of your goals, so you can find friends AND do something you want to try out.

Your girlfriend should do your cooking, washing, and sewing. At least her, her mother, and grandmother should do those things for you. Why have a girlfriend if she doesn't take care of you?

Cause I'm 17, and she's only been my GF for just over a month :).

Don't stop here. Turn your ideas into a plan and then write the plan into a schedule that you can follow step-by-step.

expat's post has some merit. He's an older guy so his needs might be cooking and laundry. Regardless of what your needs are, your "partner" should be putting MORE energy into the relationship than you. And in return, you should try to out-do her and put even MORE energy into the relationship than her. This is the way it works.

If you run into anybody who doesn't put effort into it, DROP them this instant and go get yourself another one. No amount of negotiations or psycho babble will turn an energy sucker into an energy giver.

Good one, as kasabi said put timelines on them and if needed a measurement factor on if it makes you happier or not.

Enjoy and a Happy New Year

You have some good ideas but no real plan to work on.

Have a look at this post I put up the other day a-foolproof-way-to-ensure-you-never-ach ... 59748.html

Have fun
