Not all of the things that are taught in the PUA community are useful to everyone. Ungrounded affirmations, for example, do more harm than good for most.

Are you doing mental gymnastics in order to avoid the realization that you are going nowhere in order to avoid some sort of pain?

You might not be making your life any better right now. You know why?

You like making yourself comfortable. Even if you are in a bad spot, you prefer to settle with it and make yourself feel comfortable in it, rather than trying to move forward to make something better for yourself. It's because, frankly, you know that changing like that would be very uncomfortable.

If you actually want to make your life better... if you want women in your life, if you want to move out of Mommy's basement and get your own place, if you want to make your own money (and lots of it), if you want your own independence, and ultimately freedom...

You need motivation. And there is no greater motivation than discomfort.

The magic formula for motivation is to make yourself more uncomfortable than how much discomfort you know you'll face when you are in the process of change. So, stop feeding yourself the lies that your ego is telling you. Admit that, right now, you're a loser. Then, change.

That is the secret to success, and that is how you will be truly great. Now, go hit rock bottom.

Example:
Start out each night of sarging by intentionally getting yourself blown out.

"A night of awkwardness is better than a night of loneliness." - Hank Moody

I agree with you Chief. Go out and feel uncomfortable. When we're leaning into our fears is when we learn the fastest.

Hobbit,I partly agree. if you look at pick up as a whole you're still playing a game to get her to like you. wrong mindset, i know. But that's how it is. People that study pick-up are doing certain things on purpose to evoke some kind of emotion. It is when you're evoking the wrong emotions for your pleasure things start to look like lack of respect to your fellow human beings. Chief probably (assuming this) ment with intentionally getting blown out: OPEN SETS, disregard of the outcome. Deal with it. get in touch with being in uncomfortable situations. Whatever you do, don't leave the set untill they blow you out.

This changed my game up several times and is a good way to go, when you hit rock bottom all you can do is improve. Not advising everyone live out of a bag on someones floor but it makes for some damn good motivation to sort your shit out.

Each time I have had time away from the game and all that shiz I have come back with stronger game.

First after you lost everything are you ready to do anything
This is a quote from Fight club which happens to be my favorite movie.

There is a lot of truth in what Chief is talking about. I had a tragic incident when I was a young teenager, but I got my ass out of it and I realized that doing that made me so much stronger.

So back in 2004, I decided to do it again and this time on purpose, I figured that if the first time got me so much stronger the second time will make me invincible!

So I moved to a different country with pretty much nothing but the clothes I was wearing, I didn't know anyone and I had nowhere to live.
Soon I had a nice apartment downtown, worked as a bartender at a 4star hotel and I had a really hot girl friend!

Some one once said that "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" and there is a lot of truth in this.

My rock bottom experiences has shaped me to become a very strong and confident person!

Good post Chief!

I was at rock bottom several years ago but managed to pull out of it without the help of psychologists or PU. Whilst psychology is useful psychologists can't actually do anything if your problems can be explained.

very good post, i agree that people always try to be comfortable in a given situation instead of recognizing your own discomfort and trying to improve upon it

I totally read the post but still'll never understand the point in someone making themselves uncomfortable.

Nietzsche.

Also responsible for some other great ones like:

"Is life not a thousand times too short for us to bore ourselves?"

"He who would learn to fly one day must first learn to stand and walk and run and climb and dance; one cannot fly into flying."

"I assess the power of a will by how much resistance, pain, torture it endures and knows how to turn it to it's advantage."

(I have a bunch of great quotes listed in my note book, these are just the Nietasche ones that stood out)
