Looking at some of the men before us that have success and failure with their careers, relationships and all else, I discovered one thing that I thought I'd share here. I welcome your thoughts and add-ons, as this has been swimming in my head like a fish.

Eccentricity is often associated with those that are particularly very good at what they do. An example is Jack Nicholson in the movie As Good As It Gets where he plays a brilliant writer with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder – not to relate this to eccentricity but just to put things into perspective for you. Despite his neurotic attitude, he reaches the heart of a waitress at his local diner even when her usual interaction with him is nothing pleasant.

I can mention a few eccentric people like scientist Albert Einstein, comedian/film director Woody Allen and the artist Andy Warhol. Although a homosexual, the writer, Oscar Wilde was actually one heck of a peacock – while studying at Oxford University, he frequently walked through the streets with a lobster on a leash. And how about this, his room was decorated with bright blue china, sunflowers, and peacock feathers!!

Some of the characteristics of eccentric people noted on Wikipedia include:

· Nonconforming attitude
· Intense
· Curiosity
· Idealistic
· Highly intelligent
· Opinionated and outspoken
· Noncompetitive
· Unusual living or eating habits
· Not interested in the opinions or company of others
· Mischievous sense of humor
· Single

What struck me as interesting is that some of those attributes are similar to those of PUAs especially the “noncomformity”, “single”, “curiosity” and “mischievous sense of humor.” I don’t have a theory to back this up but it would appear women do get attracted to this sort of “organised confusion” going on with eccentrics. In no way am I suggesting PUAs become eccentric or stating that the community cultivates this behaviour – I just think people like Einstein, Allen and Wilde easily pulled attention to themselves as a result of having elements of PUA in their characteristics.

Again I quote from Wikipedia:

Edith Sitwell wrote:

"Eccentricity is not, as some would believe, a form of madness. It is often a kind of innocent pride, and the man of genius and the aristocrat are frequently regarded as eccentrics because genius and aristocrat are entirely unafraid of and uninfluenced by the opinions and vagaries of the crowd."

Does it in any way explain why seemingly dishevelled, indifferent and lifeless scientists, writers, artists, directors, etc, always have a stunning woman/lots of loyal people in their lives? Are the irregular habits of eccentrics attractive to HBs?

Before you comment, please take time to read this and draw your own conclusions:

Jemmy Hirst (1738 - 1829)
Jemmy loved animals and he trained his bull to behave like a horse. The bull (named Jupiter) would draw his carriage about the village and Hirst even rode him in fox hunts. Instead of dogs, he used pigs that he had trained as hunt dogs. He regularly blew a horn to invite the poor to his home for free food - which was served out of a coffin. When he died, he requested 12 old maids to follow his coffin to the grave, as well as a bagpiper and a fiddler to play happy music.

Do you think Jemmy Hirst would have trouble pulling HBs today?[/b]

Fuck. Now I want to go walk a lobster. That shit would be slow as balls, though.

I think that eccentric men are sexually successful because they demonstrate a very masculine sense of passion. They really show a genuine spark when it comes to doing what they really want to do.

On the other hand, some eccentric people are too fucking weird and therefore limit their sexual success by turning women off by going too far. Still, that style of nonconformity attracts at least SOME women.

I think you hit the nail on the head right there. Because what is one of the biggest rules of sarging? You really have to not care. These people found something (science, art, writing, whatever) that they are very passionate about. That consumes them and thus they don't care. These are both attractive things, passion, and not caring. But you really have to not care.

I live in Providence, RI. This makes me think of the RISD kids (for those who don't know, Rhode Island School of Design, one of the most well known art schools in the country)... you can tell when they try to fit that mold and it's just lame and you want to get away from them ASAP. But the people you described aren't conforming or TRYING to be cool via not caring. They are just happy with themselves, and at the end of the day I think that's the most important lesson in life.

Eccentrics create curiosity then for people to have their curiosity answered they need to buy completely into the persons reality. At this point they realise this way of living is more free and fun so are drawn to the source of these feelings.
