Went sarging with an unreliable wing a few nights ago. Opened manys a set (and eventually #/K closed a lesbian) but there was one set in a wine bar that intrigued me afterwards.

It was a 2-set sitting at the bar on high chairs, HB8 and HB7, their jackets were hanging on the seat-backs. I positioned myself and my buddy behind them since there was plenty of room there, the rest of the bar was pretty crowded. I didn't open the set immediately, ignored them in fact, focussed on chatting to my wing, getting the wine menu from the bartender, getting the drinks ordered, and only then did I open the set. Did some c/f stuff, I think I overnegged a little on HB8 who let me know she was 'between jobs,' and when I saw her reacting with something other than laughter I assured her I was just kidding, back-pedalled and related to how I was once in that position. Then I changed the subject. Prolly should have changed the subject right away instead of giving her what amounted to an apology?

Oh well. I think the rapport was building well here, and it was getting hot in there. I was wearing a big coat because it was a cold night, and I had to take it off to avoid sweating. I needed somewhere to hang it, so I promptly put it on the back of HB8's chair on top of her own coat, saying "I hope you don't mind if I put this here." (Previously I would have asked nicely for permission, but not since learning the game.) She didn't object, but my wing observed something at this point.* A few minutes later the girls decided to leave very suddenly, leaving almost half a glass of wine in their glasses.

* What my wing had observed, and he told me this in the post-mortem, was that HB8 looked like she was freaking out when I was setting my coat on top of hers. I thought nothing of it at the time, I wasn't trying a move - I genuinely needed somewhere to hang my coat.

Is there some rule of ettiquette that I haven't come across yet about putting your coat on top of someone else's? Ettiquette can be a bit of a minefield, as any viewers of Seinfeld will know.

Did I look like I was trying to nail her down and limit her movements?

It wasn't so much an ettiquette thing and she didn't want to hurt your feelings so she didn't say anything. As a timing thing, you appeared to be conveying a "make yourself at home" kind of attitude and the girl was not yet ready for comfort - as you suggested she felt like you were making a move.

You came in seeming creppy if she gave a weird look.

Girls are like that, to fuck with her mind just tell them someone is creppy.

Yeah I agree.

You settled in too quick. You should have walked away from the set and done the "I am going to look for my friend" thing.

Ah, escalating before comfort has been built. A bit of kino prior to this might have helped.

Interesting how the c/f attitude is now coming naturally, almost to the point where I have to be aware of it and not go too far with it.
