Always try to leave a sort of question, within your text preferably at the end of the text, She will be prompted to reply. The great thing about texting is that you can take your time and give the best suited response, do this. Don't hit the send button until you know it's exactly what you want to say.
Try not to write anything that can be easily taken out of context or mis-read. ie comments that usually need body language, tonality of voice or facial expressions.
