So there's this HB9 who is a lifeguard at the community pool, which is right next to the fitness center that I go to a few times a week. For a couple weeks now I've been telling myself to just man up and talk to her, but I've been putting it off. Well today I finally did it after talking myself into it for about 10 minutes. Needless to say, it was pretty awkward.

BB: Hey, I've seen you around here and I just wanted to meet you.
HB: *Nods Head*
BB: So, what's your name:
HB: blah, blah (says name)
BB: Ok cool mine name is blah blah
HB:Hi blah blah
BB: *nervous laughter* You probably have the worlds most boring job.
HB: Actually no
BB: No?
HB: Yea I do some stuff to keep busy, I read and write.
BB: Cool. What are you writing about? (I see the notepad thing)
HB: Something.
BB: Ok. So basically your just writing something on the page a billion times.
HB:Yea basically (shes smiling as she says it)
BB:Ok... that's cool I guess... (Smiling)... Well I just wanted to say hi because I didn't want to be awkwardly staring at you or anything.
HB: I haven't noticed awkward staring.
BB: You haven't?
HB: *Shakes head*
BB: Well I'm going to get going now. Bye blah blah
HB: Bye

Now I don't remember exactly what I said but I admitted that she was pretty and I was nervous (I know, bad). And also somewhere in there she told a joke and laughed and I laughed too. I just don't really remember what she said. So all in all that could've gone better, but at least I did my first approach. Suggestions?

Great! Approach a million more times and you'll get experience, confidence, and swagger. Keep truckin. . .

Don't have that mindset^^^^

It was good that you approached her, and stated your intent: you wanted to meet her. Keep that mindset. Keep it up man!

Not tooo bad dude....I looked for a lame line you could have said, and there were none.Though , if you wanted to close with this girls, yes you need to be better , but this approach was not terrible, and even some lines you said were great.Especially the opener,I can't say that to a girl....IT'S GODAM EMBARISING!!!!!!

Well, it's a start. Now, keep building on it.

There will be failures, there will be successes. It's a long road ahead.

Good luck.

As others said, great work!

I read somewhere here (posted by a name I cannot remember, all credit to him though) about a good tip in the beginning:

Divide your goals. Start off by practicing approaching. While doing so, do not have any kind of F/K/N-close in mind. You're there to approach, to open up. If it starts getting awkward, take your leave, mission still accomplished - you successfully approached.

Do this repeatedly and soon it will feel natural, like riding the bike (which was damn strange in the beginning but piece of cake now).

But keep in mind, when practicing opening/approaching, just focus on that part, do not care about what happens afterwards. By doing so all the pressure is removed from you, and you can concentrate to analyze body language, what openers work and don't work etc.

Keep it up, and don't take it to heart if it doesn't always go well!

Thanks you guys. Your support really does mean a lot to me. It was really nerve wracking doing it, but kind of fun at the same time. I will keep all of your tips in mind. Can't wait to get back out there and approach more!

Bball, I think suffice it to say that we are really proud of you! :) It's awesome that you bit your tongue and approached that girl. No matter how awkward it went there is one undeniable fact... you tried. ALMOST EVERY OTHER GUY AT THAT POOL DIDNT. And you know what they're thinking right now? I wish I had gone and talked to her.

Rejection might feel a bit shitty, but not going up to a girl you have a crush on feels even worse.

I promise you that if you do what you did 50 more times, you will be teaching us how to game girls.

Keep up the good work man. You have all of us to support you.
