I just got into Pick Up about 3 weeks ago, and I decided to do a field test for a new way of situational opening. I went to a karaoke bar 3 nights in a week and each time sang a song that the audience could interact with. Then when i got the crowd on my side I would go up to the best looking girl and put the mike next to her. if she sang, i would come up afterward and say she did a great job. If she didnt, id neg her about not being spontaneous and then laugh and go with the first opener that pops into my head. I got 4 number closes from the first 2 nights combined. The third night (tonight) i saw some 10s at the bar and proceeded as usual. Luckily they sang with me, and then i just chilled with them and built rapport. Threw in the best friends test, then the trust test, and soon we were all hugging and kissing and they were showing me their photo shoots. Turns out they were playboy bunnies. In Michigan! so i went back to their place and made out some more. Got their numbers and they got mine. not an hour after i left they all texted me asking if i wanted to come to a party tomorrow and if I would like to go to a photo shoot next week. 3 weeks in and pickup just turned my world upside down.
Moral: use situational openers that are based on social proof. It works. Anytime you can take the stage (karaoke, poetry readings, stand up comedy clubs) think up one good thing you can use to get people around you involved, then use it. opening the set later is then easy and not awkward. hasn't failed yet. Succesful field test.
A truly wonderful field report...WOW!
