It started with a French girl when I was 14, my first year of HS and thus foreign language, and I happened to pick French. She rode the same bus home and we had never spoken but somehow I figured out that she was French. I started shouting a few phrases from about 10 rows back. You should have seen her smile as her head snapped around! We never had sex but by the time summer rolled around she was asking me to come back to France and stay with her family. My parents refused saying I was too young. A truly missed moment in my life.

In college I dated a half Vietnamese girl. She was born in the US, but she had the experience of a fully Viet father who had fought along side the Americans. Basically he was a total military asshole, alcoholic and abusive. Because of that she was down with me and the whole nice guy persona. I was what her father never was.

After that ended, I got with one of her roommates too, a Japanese exchange student. First she was familiar with me, the social proof concept. Second, I just related with her, asking about her culture, anime, their famous indoor ski mountain, that kind of stuff. Too bad she ranks as one of the worst sexual encounters I've had.

A few years later I returned for more college and met my future ex wife, a striking Russian woman. She also had an asshole military alcoholic father. After 2.5 years in the US, I was the first American she decided to date, which must mean something. She said I wasn't like the other Americans. I didn't come on too strong. She was impressed by my "knowledge" of Russia. A few choice words like "parastroyka" , Lenin, and knowing the name of their first cosmonaut. It really wasn't much but it separated me from all the narcissist Americans.

So my marriage is over and this last year I started dating a Peruvian woman. Actually, she responded to an ad I placed on craigslist (I hate CL though). I offered myself to be someone's "Holiday Date" for Christmas parties last year, and she bit. Can you say machu picchu? Did you know they give visitors coca (cocaine) tea to combat the elevation sickness? Also, just mentioning that I knew another Peruvian from Lima showed that my mental sphere was larger than that of most Americans. Physically, she's just a 5, but she is intelligent, successful, and an enthusiastic lover. But I can do better.

I'm now 33 and decided to break it off with Peru. Oddly enough, a 22 year old Brazilian au pair has taken the bait. Coincidentally, the same week my mother was waxing on about a Brazilian faith healer called Joan de Deus (John of God). Mom, you have fun with that, but thanks for the material. Next weekend I'm taking her wine tasting where she will walk away with a monogrammed wine glass as a souvenir. Not sure where I want to push things with her yet, she seems so sweet. About a 6.5 with a very upbeat and friendly personality. What am I saying? I should at least give it a shot don't you think?

What does this mean for all the nice guys and nerds?
Foreign girls in the US are often scared, intimidated, and lonely. Often they are away from their families and everything that's familiar. Since I'm well read by choice, and paid attention in school, I can relate with these women and let them feel a bit of the culture their heart is missing. The meat heads can't do that.

Further, Americans are much louder and in your face compared with their men. The meat head alpha males literally terrify Miss Japan.

These women often come from a shitty country and a much harder life. Their men can be selfish, cheat, alcoholic, AND treat their women like pets. So when she comes to the US, its quite possibly her only chance at a decent life. She is so scared of her whole life crashing down. Don't Ever Abuse That! Because of that she is interested in intelligent men who can earn a good living. You don't have to be rich, just successful. You can show her that not all Americans are heartless immigrant hating assholes; and she will reward you for it.

She's no longer alone, because she has you Mr Smart Guy.
