i met this girl at a party last semester. we were both drunk and we had a good time (not in THAT way) and she gave me her number. problem was, i had a gf at the time and had no interest in pursuing other options, so i sort of shelved the number.

now this semester started, and i'm single and looking for excitement. so i decided to try and "jump-start" the number again.
not sure how this would work, i pondered what to send.

For obvious reasons, I can’t let on that I got her number last semester. But yet, with my new life philosophy, I can’t just let the number go to waste either! why would i?

Luminova: A
crap! f***! that was my finger bumping the send button instead of the arrow. not intentional at all, and now i don't have time to think of how to lead in. thanks stupid phone

HB: Who is this?

Luminova: oops tell me i didnt just send that blank! i swear that wasnt a creepy stalker msg lol. its Luminova. HB.. ur the cool girl from the party, right? ;D

HB: Luminova from which party?

Luminova: *which* party? haha wow some1s been livin it up :P did u get in2 that crazy jam-packed game?
trying to get into conversation and off the subject of the party. hoping she would go with it.

HB: I’m HB ha but I wasn’t in (city) this weekend so idk who you are ha
(I didn’t actually say that I was. I neither said that I was in the city or met her last weekend)

HB: Do you go to (university)?

Luminova: w8 i’m in class now! txt u l8r on

(I want to bust on her for ‘not remembering me,’ the problem is though I don’t want to draw too much attention to that, as I’m jump-starting this number and actually didn’t meet her at a party this semester. So I want to not fixate on that.

Luminova: sure do; i bear down hard! cmon u r so letting me down here i give up... does drinking on the roof, a baby, stolen cop car, & a lost matress ring any bells?
teasingly bringing up a reference to a certain movie

HB: Oh so we were in a movie together

She replied with this, but I didn’t read it until the next day or i'd be tempted to respond. I wanted to make her wait in suspense and think about it a lot.

Luminova: ha but u only get the points if u can tell me which one (think naked asian guy) :-o. idk, u could mk a good melissa...
baiting and qualification

HB: Uhm idk u

Clearly my jump-start was not working. Dang it! Not sure if she just didn't put in my number, and this looked like a random text from nowhere; I only tried once more because my previous text message in all fairness doesn’t make any sense if one’s not looking at the previous message.

Luminova: u 4got me again! :O i was just txting u yesterday
last chance, see if she would respond

HB: Idk who you are, you just keep saying weird things
i cut it off there. clearly things were not working.
--------------------------------------------------

I’m not sure exactly why this belly-flopped, either I went too over the top with text game (though I have had silly crazy text interactions with girls before successfully), just didn't build enough comfort, or it’s because I just tried and jump-start this number out of thin air.

Any suggestions, things i should or shouldn't have done? or maybe i'm trying to do the impossible here, bringing a number back...
