So today I've finally decided to confront my fear of approaching. I've spent a very long time reading PUA material, about a year, but I was always so afraid to go out and actually apply this stuff, until today. My goal was to just approach five girls, no number closes required. Just approach. I ended up approaching 8 and got an insta-date! lol this is how it went... I went after just isolated targets. I was there for a solid hour before I mustered up the courage to go do something, so don't think this was easy for me.
*Just note that I did use the same opener all day because I was most comfortable with it. It was an opinon on tattoos opener. I'll look to shake it up a little more next time I'm out.*
First approach: She was an HB7 and worked in champs. She seemed very neutral and said she thought tattoos were cool, then a customer came over to ask for help and that was the end of that conversation.
Second approach: Second approach was on an HB6 in a Zumiez store that didn't work there. She was looking through a rack of clothes and I approached her. She seemed like she thought I was looking for a sales assistant at first but she listened and I got another neutral response and the conversation abruptly ended when her male friend came over.
Third approach: This one was on a hired gun, an HB8.5 in some small, expensive clothing store. She was folding jeans and I went up to her and used my opener. She was very friendly as she was probably comfortable with being approached at work as she's likely used to it. She smiled a lot and told me she really liked tattoos so we connected on some level there. I talked to her for about 3 minutes. I was considering number closing her but I opted not to as I felt I didn't build enough rapport. I should have anyway but whatever.
Fourth approach: This approach was on an HB7.5 in some kind of indie/new age store. She seemed isolated while looking at some shirts so I approached and ran my opener. She was receptive, but seemed kind of shy. She gave me a HUGE smile though lol. Unfortunately it ended prematurely as another male came into the set with a female. They were all friends and I didn't think I was ready to handle any sets just yet so I politely thanked her and ejected.
Fifth approach: I honestly can't remember lol. That's probably a good thing though in a way! lol
Sixth approach: HB7.5 hired gun, opener worked well and conversation started off nice but began to drift back to the feel of a customer speaking with an employee. I ejected after about two minutes.
Seventh approach: I just love hired guns lol. This one was an HB7 in A&F. She was very receptive on the topic and we seemed to get along well, but I couldn't transition the conversation to something else in time so I thanked her and walked away.
Eighth approach: This one is the one I'll remember because I actually grew a pair of balls and was rewarded! I was afraid all day to approach a moving target, but I just bit my tongue and went for an HB 8.5, walking right up to her. I ran my opener and she was smiling as we discussed tattoos. She had a desire to get a tattoo as well so we connected on that. I asked her where she was headed because she was alone and she said no where in particular so I asked her if she'd like to walk around. She said yes and I had a 20 minute insta-date. I have to admit I was so not expecting to do this so the conversation wasn't particularly smooth, she seemed a little quiet, but didn't seem to mind the whole thing. I got her number at the end but I think the few awkward silences kinda messed it up, she'll probably flake.
But that's okay! I've overachieved BIG TIME lol. This was such a great way to start off, I'm very proud of myself and my confidence has increased a bit. I hope if there's anything anyone can get out of this, it's that if you're new then just go out and bite the bullet. The worst I got was neutral reactions. If anyone would like to critique me please go ahead.
