Scene: Lounge area of club
Set: Hb8 and Hb6, sitting on bench, looking bored
Protagonists: Me (novice PUA) and acquaintance (wing/unk PUA status)
Opener: I point them out and he's already on the move. No chance for strategizing. He sits down in front of them and says "how are you doing" (ugh!) to the HB6 and I sit down next to the HB8 and make situational opener. She doesn't respond or look at me.

HB6 is really talking at this point. I try to engage the HB8 but she keeps her head turned away and doesn't respond AT ALL. Completely ignores me. My friend includes me in their conversation, getting onto the topic of what I do.
HB6: I'm going to nursing school. She's going into social work.
Me: My mom is in social work. Said it was the worst decision of her life! (C&F. I'll jab with a neg, I'm thinking)
HB6 responds favorably but nothing out of the Hb8, nothing whatsoever! Super high bitch shield I'm thinking so I follow it up with a right hook of a neg.
Me to HB6: hard to believe this girl could have a job with the word "social" in the title.
HB8 doesn't even flinch and continues to look in the opposite direction of me.

I stood up and left.

Learning Issue: I realize the initial approach was regrettable and handicapped us from the start. If, for whatever reason, you get the selective mutism SPAM to the point where they have not and will not even acknowledge your existence, is there anything you can do?

That happened to me once, so I just decided to make such fun of her and tease her so hard that she HAD to react. PISSED the girl off because I tore her down so hard. I didn't pick her up, but it was quite amusing to see that I did have the power to piss her off.
