| Mode one rejection.
Has anyone read Alan Roger Currie's Mode One? I recently read it, along with watching some videos with him explaining his philosophy, and decided to try it out. I figure it cuts through the bullshit, you either get the girl, or you don't. No wasting time trying to subtley impress her or any of that shit. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely a fan of direct instead of indirect. However I'm usually more along the lines of Sasha, Yad, and Krauser. ARC on the other hand has the style of "Hey, I don't know you, but we should fuck." And then just SOLID frame control, unshakable confidence, and just generally not giving a shit.
So, last night I went out to a place that a friend bartends at. I hadn't seen her in a while and she wanted to hang out, she was giving me free drinks all night too, which is always a bonus. I had absolutely no intention of trying to pick up any ladies, it was really just a, let's go hang out, kind of night. Anyway, a few hours in this absolutely gorgeous woman sits a few seats down from me. My friend was almost finished closing up and we were about to leave, so I just think 'fuck it' and go for it. Time to try out this Mode One stuff.
I walk up and say "You are absolutely gorgeous, what's your name?"
She looks up and smiles. "I'm blahblah."
"Nice to meet you. So when are we hooking up?"
Direct eye contact, said matter-of-factly.
She just looks at me for a second, almost looks confused. "Hook up?"
"Yeah, what do you think, this weekend?"
"What do you mean hook up?"
"Have sex, make love, exchange orgasms, whatever you want to call it." Still dead serious expression, direct eye contact.
She laughed, not a, oh my god you're fucking retarded laugh, but a what the hell is going on laugh. If that makes sense.
"You aren't serious?"
"Absolutely. So, Saturday?"
Smile from ear to ear on her face "No, I'm sorry. I don't do that kind of thing."
"You don't like sex?"
"I do." She seemed embarassed to admit this.
"Then what's the problem?"
"I don't know you, sorry but I don't do that."
At this point my friend was waiting on me to leave, so I decide to just finish up the conversation and leave.
"Well, take my number anyway and if you change your mind let me know."
"No, really I don't think I should. Um..thank you though, for the compliment." There was a weird inflection on this, like she said it sort of as a question but not really. If you understand what I mean.
I smile at her "No problem." And leave.
Now, this went much better than I expected it to, and honestly, if I didn't already have plans to go leave and actually cared about getting this girl. I could have stayed, maybe another 15-20 minutes of conversation and I could have at least gotten her number. She seemed somewhat interested, just from her body language. Either way, this was a lot of fun. I don't think I'll be Mode One 100% of the time, but occasionally I will definitely give it a go. It's a fun interaction, and from what ARC says, a lot of the time it works.
