Hi all, I’m somewhat inexperienced to this pickup culture and this is my first post in the forums. I recently became single after a 9 year relationship and so I have been out of action for a while with regards to picking up women. After a couple of months of feeling dejected I think it’s time to move on and find someone new so I went out last night with the aim to see where I’m at, which it turns out isn’t very far. Me and a friend went around a few bars and I was on the lurk, I consider myself quite handsome and I dress very well so I was getting some looks and smiles my way but nobody stood out to me. Later we went to one last place and after getting our drinks I noticed a girl that just stood out to me, she was really pretty and we met eyes and I received a smile which I took as a IOI and so then I decided that at the very least I must speak to this girl somehow, I stood thinking for a few minutes and she was with two of her girl friends and the place was crammed by the way and conversation could only be attained via shouting in to each other’s ears. I decided to stand in a place where she would have to walk past us to either leave or go to the bathroom (I know this sucks but this was my best idea) and I kept telling myself that if she comes over I must get her attention and have a quick chat, I had something lined up which was a question about my hair as I’d recently had it cut and my friend said it made me look like Millhouse so I was going to get her opinion and then add in the end that she was cute and thanks for helping me out, I thought it was a good first starter for me and I’d never ever done anything like that before. Unfortunately though as time passed she neither left or used the bathroom and for me to go over there was too much to ask, I’m not prepared for that yet and so we left and I felt defeated and really annoyed at myself as I’m sure she would have been interested in me. But I know I’m only starting out and I plan to improve each and every time I’m out in the field, I’m currently reading The Game by Neil Strauss but I’d like to know what books others recommend for me also. Any advice or tips for where I went wrong or what to do next time will be greatly appreciated and I hope my next field report shall be a more successful venture.

dont tell chicks they "are cute" unless you qualify it with some DHV.

dont "pursue" chicks in general.

Assuming "you could have gotten her", then being bummed out because you didn't is unrealistic thinking followed by negative reinforcement. Both horrible for game.
