Yes of course you can close in 10 minutes, heck, you can close in a 10 second ride on the elevator. You mentioned you found out she has a boyfriend which is most likely why you didn't close. Don't sweat it man, you did everything right, just keep doing what you're doing and hopefully you will close a girl soon. Only thing I'm confused about is why 2 guys would go for 1 number. You should have approached alone. I mean that's kind of weird if 2 guys ask for 1 girl's number.

I'd say that you did great from the FR but don't approach à girl when you were two guys and she's alone. But in general good approach, to sad about BF but shit happens!

Your idea of taking the number is great ! but you could've talked untill you found something in common that you can do together ( she already told you she was bad at maths ) . maybe u could've talked about basketball or swimming ( untill you find something she likes then move for the number to set up a meeting ) but other than that well done !

And oh it would be better if you approach alone because it would be kinda creepy for 2 guys approaching one girl , But u guys made it seem kinda natural which is awesome !
Sometimes you can offer her your number but not all guys do that ( it really depends on you ) .
