First Approach Ever

It went a little like this:

i saw a cute girl as i got off my bus from school, so i decided not to think and say the first thing that came to my mind. So i said "Excuse me, but you are the cutest girl i've seen all day. I'd kick myself in the ass if i didn't come and say hi to you" she smiled, but within 20 seconds there was an awkward silence and i had no idea what to say.

What to do?!?!?!

Just ask her open-ended questions about things and let her talk. Congrats on approaching though! That's half the battle
