Yeah...in a way things are better kept secret. The type of guys I'd hide it from are sleezebags. But I think that if you come across a guy that's really shy (or a girl thats really shy) you should give them some help. Sure you won't benefit from it, but isn't it a good feeling when you help some one to better ther lives.
