I signed up for an 8-week improv class at Second City that's gonna start next week and I'm hoping it will help me to become more spontaneous and confident in myself. My friends and most people I meet consider me very funny, but I find it harder to be funny with people I've just met and don't have rapport with (especially women) so I'm hoping this will help me get over that self-consciousness as well. My ultimate goal is to gain enough confidence to do standup comedy because then I don't have to bother with game, cuz the girls will come to me. But until then I'll be on here, lol.

So I was just wondering has anyone else ever done improv or taken a class in it and how did it help you with your confidence and with your game in general. And if you have any tips for me that'd be cool too.

PS: For those who don't know, improv is improvisation comedy, a performance with no script where the actors just make up the scene as they go, right on the spot.

hey i had the option a couple of weeks back to take such a coarse... i didnt coz i didnt have a job but that's beside the issue. A lot of guys in my lair have taken one and think its a very good investment for any upcoming pua, for comedy but also conversational skills in general.

Havent taken one myself man but its what ive heard :)

I took an improv class a few weeks ago, and it is one of the most exciting thing I've done in my life. I would recommend it to anyone, even if you aren't trying to become a PUA. It teaches you a lot of fundamentals required for life in general: listening, saying YES, and being spontaneous. If you're looking for things more strictly based on Game; it teaches you how to story tell, being animated with your body, and of course, having fun.

I'm still a little shy, so the fact that I had to get up there and perform in front of a group of strangers felt exhilarating. Improv essentially eliminated my AA as performing in front of a group of strangers is 10x more scary than approaching a single woman. You really do notice that people don't give a shit whether you're good at performing or not. That really helped my self-esteem because it helps you realize that in real life, people generally don't give a shit about you and are more concerned about themselves. Once you start a scene with your instructor, the audience simply fades into the background and you're engulfed in your scene.

I took a 3 hour session and I felt my confidence skyrocket. It is a good investment, and mine was a very short class. I can't imagine how much more you'll gain than I did by taking an 8 week course. I'm going to do it again in Fall. You're making a very wise choice by taking Improv.

Yeah I agree, I think taking improv is a great idea, I'm planning to take a course starting in a few weeks. Btw, just to be clear, you should know that being a stand up comedian will not necessarily make the girls come to you lol.

The two main qualities that if you don't have women won't like you are hygine and being funny so you're on the right way.

Congrats on taking this up :)
